Selling Your Car? Here's How We Value It Fairly

Valuation is often the part of selling a car that feels the least transparent — a number arrives with little explanation of how it was reached. The process is more methodical than it looks from the outside.

What goes into the number

We start with recent transaction data for the same make, model, and year, then adjust for your car's specific mileage, condition, ownership history, and any modifications. A physical inspection — the same rigour applied to cars we certify for sale — catches anything the paperwork alone would miss.

Trade-in versus outright sale

A trade-in against your next purchase is usually the faster route, since valuation and part-payment happen in the same transaction. An outright sale can sometimes fetch a marginally higher number if you are not buying immediately, but it takes longer to complete. Neither is a uniformly better choice — it depends on your timeline.

Getting the most accurate valuation

Full service records, a clean title, and honest disclosure of any prior accident repair all work in your favour — not against it. A valuation based on complete information is one that holds up once the car is physically inspected, rather than being revised downward at the last step.
